In the game you play as Wake, a young boy neglected by his father who runs away from home with a sandwich and a Gameboy. However, beyond the influence and the UI similarities to Pikmin, The Wild at Heart is able to set itself apart as a charming and beautiful game in its own right. This was of course not an accident, as the game takes quite a lot of influence from the Nintendo title. The first thing that made me curious was the familiar-looking health bars that looked suspiciously the same as those seen in the Pikmin games. Not much of the game was shown, it wasn’t one of the few that received a developer interview, but the gameplay and visuals instantly excited me. He spends most of his time at home, but after he and Kirby decide to run away into the woods one night, they stumble upon this brilliant world created by Moonlight Kids.Developed by Moonlight Kids and published by Humble Games, The Wild at Heart first caught my eye in March, during an showcase. The Wild at Heart is about childhood escapism as Wake is struggling with a troubled home life. The upcoming game from Moonlight Kids, in a partnership with Humble Games, looks like a reimagined version of Pikmin while pulling artistic inspiration from storybook adventures and cartoons with its gorgeous art style. The Wild at Heart is a game about two kids, Wake and his best friend Kirby, unknowingly coming across a world filled with magical creatures. The indie adventure game known as The Wild at Heart revealed a new trailer at the indie Showcase, complete with a release date for late spring this year.
